YLG sessions will include:

  • Experiential and interactive learning
  • Discussions related to community issues
  • Interaction with community leaders
  • Development of communication and leadership skills
  • Orientation to organizations in the community
  • Motivation for participants to become more actively involved in community service

The four areas of focus for the YLG program are:

  • Self: Understanding how to lead must begin with an understanding of one’s self: strengths, challenges, values, and life’s purpose.
  • Others: Successful leadership involves engaging in relationships with others, communicating clearly, providing support, and creating environments that foster the best in people.
  • Action: Leadership is about movement and direction, stimulating action and change.
  • Community:  Leaders promote change or action within the communities and organizations in their sphere of influence, understanding the unique values and climate of each community.
