The Community Resolution Center (CRC) is offering mediation training for those interested in becoming volunteer mediators. The training does come at a cost of $500, however if you become a volunteer mediator for CRC after completion of your training (including your required observations and mediation) you may qualify for a partial refund.
The CRC provides low cost mediation services to the community. Typically, mediation is the opportunity for people to settle their disputes in a neutral and confidential setting, outside the courtroom. CRC mediators can mediate any type of case that you would normally see in the court, with the exception of criminal cases.
CRC mediators are volunteers from the community who offer their time and talent to help people resolve conflicts in a non-adversarial manner. Becoming a volunteer mediator is a great way to make a difference in your community!
Completion of the 40-hour training is required by the State Court Administrative Office to become a mediator. Anyone is eligible to participate in this training, however you must be pre-registered. Completion of training and internship requirement does not guarantee future placement with CRC and the CRC reserves the right to accept or decline offers of volunteer service.
For more information on mediation training contact the Flint office, (810)249-2619 or email Jane O'Dell.
